Taking Family Building To New Heights
Richmond Times-Dispatch has written an amazing story on John Waters, our Vice President! We love our Biringer Builders family and are so grateful to share our story with others.
“I have to keep them honest,” Biringer said. “They all work. No one gets anything free. There are no egos involved because they all do very well.”
Biringer Builders gives new meaning to a family business.
The custom homebuilder is an offspring of Richmond Masonry Inc. — and these two Chesterfield County-based businesses, while separate, are run and operated by family members spanning two generations.
This family doesn’t just work together. They play together, spend most holidays together and vacation together.
At the head is Jim Biringer, president and owner of Biringer Builders and Richmond Masonry.
“He is the hardest-working person I know, and he has a great, generous spirit,” said John Waters, vice president of Biringer Builders and Biringer’s son-in-law. “I don’t know if he will ever truly retire.”
A bricklayer, Biringer moved to Richmond in 1973 with his wife, Patty, from Cecil Township, Pa., outside Pittsburgh.
The son of a steel worker whose job depended on the upside of the industry and who was one of five children in the family, Biringer knows all about working for an honest day’s pay.
Now 70, he prefers the backseat as he hands off the building company to Waters, and the masonry company to his son and son-in-law.
